A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

Since 1976, North Seattle Community College has attempted to put a community garden on campus. After the initial site was paved over, the project was flattened, and for 30 years sat idle. In the last 2 years, the students and community have rallied together to create the now historic partnership that will be the Licton Springs P-Patch. Throughout it's 40 year existence, the City of Seattle's P-Patch community garden system has never partnered with State-owned land to build a garden. Through a unique agreement between the college, the city of Seattle, and the community, we hope to have the garden finished in September of 2013 after receiving over $175,000 in grants for the project. It is the first time throughout the existence of the P-Patch program that the City of Seattle and State of Washington have teamed up to build a community garden.
