Sustainable NMU is a website which houses information on the background of the Sustainability Advisory Committee at NMU, as well as details on the various projects, initiatives, academics/operations programs related to sustainability, and other information on how sustainability is promoted at NMU.

The NMU Commons at NMU Institutional Repositories (IRs) brings together all of a University's research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research. NMU students can use the Commons as a vehicle for conference papers, presentations, senior theses, and other works not published elsewhere. See below for more information on the NMU Commons.

Additionally, NMU recognizes and honors the achievements of students in the areas of research and creativity through their annual Celebration of Student Scholarship. Held each April, this symposium celebrates the scholarship, creativity, and academic service of both undergraduate and graduate students. This symposium features outstanding performers and award winners from all disciplines. Following the Showcase, award winners are recognized for the first, second, and third place winners in each category (e.g. undergrad, grad, etc.). NMU has various building signage which highlights green features of buildings on campus. These include signage indicating LEED certification obtained in construction of certain buildings, signage indicating availability of single-sort recycling, and signage showing the number of bottled water containers saved from use of water bottle refilling stations.

NMU has signage in all dining halls indicating sustainable practices employed. For example, one sign highlights the use of local food providers by showing the providers' locations on a map of the state of Michigan. Another sign provides information on NMU's partnership with a local farm to provide 100% of NMU's eggs using cage-free, grass fed chickens.

NMU offers tours and information on its LEED certified green buildings. These tours includes information on various sustainably-designed features and their benefits/purposes. A brochure is included which lists these features that are part of toured buildings (see attached).
