Has the institution conducted an employee satisfaction and engagement survey or other evaluation that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

The percentage of employees (staff and faculty) assessed, directly or by representative sample:
100

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

Our HR department distributed a survey to gauge satisfaction with HR's services and the ways they assist faculty and staff in 2015. They sent out two surveys: one to all employees of the university, and one to employees of HR.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):

The information gathered from these types of assessments informs the way our Human Resources office can better serve employees at Northwestern and ensure a healthy and positive work environment for all our faculty and staff.

Overall, the HR customer service survey showed there was an opportunity to enhance customer experience through:
1. Taking ownership of customer’s problems, rather than passing them off
2. Being consistent in policy administration
3. Being more timely in HR transactions

The Human Resources Department is committed to and planning a University-wide staff employee engagement survey. The survey will be taken this summer (2017), and action planning will commence in the Fall. This staff survey complements the faculty climate survey from 2015 and various student surveys. This survey will seek to build upon not only employees' experience with HR, but also employees' general satisfaction at the University.

The year the employee satisfaction and engagement evaluation was last administered:
2,015
