Currently, only theses and dissertations are required to be published open and are maintained in an institutional repository (OhioLINK ETD Center). This policy allows students in three colleges (Communication, Health Sciences and Fine Arts) to opt out of electronic open publication. Ohio University Libraries is currently prototyping new platform for university authors of open content: OHIO Open Library; offers workshops on OER and open textbook adoption; financially supports new publishing models which create open books and resources such as Knowledge Unlatched; and is a member of SPARC and the Open Textbook Network.
