Does the institution have a program to reduce residence hall move-out waste?:
Yes

A brief description of the program:

Starting in 2007 a campus wide initiative to reduce move in and move out waste was started. This group brings together Campus Recycling, Surplus Property, and University Housing and Dining Services in a coordinated effort to reduce move in and move out waste. This program includes having designated students/staff/volunteers helping students moving in to identify items that can be reused, recycled or donated and a more efficient recycling system by working closely with Allied Waste and OSU departments.

Campus Recycling also sponsors a food and clothing drive in the residence halls at the end of each year when students are moving out. In recent years, we have collected more than 6,000 pounds of clothing, furniture, and house wares (donated to Vina Moses and Goodwill) and approximately 2,500 pounds of food (donated to Linn-Benton Food Share) every year.

The Spring 2010 Residence Hall Move-Out was a huge success and included:
- Material donated by residents totaled 11,651 lbs, which was given to nonprofits!
- We collected 2,517 lbs of house wares, 872 lbs of food and toiletries, 5,262 lbs of clothing and bedding, and 3,000 lbs of scrap wood.
