A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

Finished in 2011, PLU has created a long-term plan called PLU 2020 for guiding the university to certain goals by 2020.  Included in the this planning is the objective of a “Diverse, Just, and Sustainable Community.”  At the center of this long range plan is PLU’s dedication to a caring, engaged, and thriving learning and work environment that welcomes all people from diverse backgrounds and unique beliefs.  Logistically, PLU plans re-evaluate recruitment and retention strategies for students, faculty, and staff in order to harbor a more diverse campus community. This will include a wider support system for students, staff, and faculty in their respective roles.  Such partners as the Women’s Center, Diversity Center, Campus Ministry, Human Resources, ASPLU (Associated Students of Pacific Lutheran University), and RHA (Residence Hall Association) will also continue to play important roles in promoting a diverse, just, and sustainable community.
