A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
Pacific includes several sustainability-related events in its New Student Orientation, including Sprucing Up the Grove, Real World, and a scavenger hunt. Recycling bins are also provided all around campus to encourage new students to recycle.
"Sprucing Up the Grove" is an annual part of new and transfer student orientation, that is designed to help Pacific students build a foundation to become concerned and involved citizens who are committed to making a difference in their communities. Additionally, several of the sites where groups of students do their community service are sustainable sites, such as B-Street farm and the Watershed.

"Real World" is a program comprised of several skits about what to expect in college and the real world, and how to make the best transition possible. One of the skits this year, called "Mother Nature, Earth," is specifically about taking care of the community and the environment, encouraging efforts to be sustainable.
The scavenger hunt is a new addition this year, in which students are led around residence halls and asked to find all the things within the hall that are not sustainable (i.e., lights and TV turned left on).
