Although Penn State lacks a true sustainability literacy assessment at this time, there are plans to implement one in 2017. In a related effort, in spring 2016 a group of graduate students and two faculty advisors conducted a survey of "Penn State University Park Undergraduates' Environmental Knowledge, Behaviors, and Concerns", as part of a class in the Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and the Environment program (HDNRE 590). Because this survey lacked questions on the social and economic aspects of sustainability, it cannot be considered a true sustainability literacy survey. However it was quite comprehensive, and based on a statistically valid sample of all undergraduates.
