Does the institution advocate for national, state/provincial, or local public policies that support campus sustainability or that otherwise advance sustainability?:
Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

Divestment
One example which demonstrates Pitzer's engagement in public policy advocacy was the College's decision to divest its endowment of fossil fuel company stocks. Pitzer was the first higher education institution in Southern California to commit to divesting its endowment of fossil fuel stocks. Pitzer's advocacy for sustainability is also evidenced in the College's ACUPCC commitment. Pitzer was a charter signatory to the ACUPCC, and committed to reducing the College's greenhouse gas emissions and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The American Campuses Act on Climate Pledge
Pitzer also is a signatory to the White House's American Campuses Act on Climate Pledge. This pledge allows colleges and universities to demonstrate their support for strong climate action by world leaders in Paris at the Conference on Climate Change next month.
