A brief description of when and why the workplace health and safety baseline was adopted:

The College has a joint workers' compensation program with the member institutions of The Claremont Colleges (seven institutions). The experience-modification is jointly calculated and reported. The baseline used for this survey was based on the recommendation in the survey to use a three-year average prior to the performance year.

A brief description of the institution’s workplace health and safety initiatives:

A Return-To-Work Program was implemented about two years ago. Broader campus resources were engaged to provide a variety of opportunities for employees with physical restrictions to return to work.

Disability Insurance (a voluntary disability insurance) and Workers' Compensation processes are administered in-house for the convenience of employees. Employees receive disability payments processed through Pitzer's own payroll and according to the same pay schedule, as long as application materials are received from the employee in a timely manner.
