Through focus groups and a collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and the community PSU assessed diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus developing a comprehensive Diversity Action Plan in 2012. Continuing with focus groups of faculty, staff, students and community members, the Office of Global Diversity and Inclusion assessed the progress of the DAP and in 2014 released a progress report, with additional recommendations.

Through the assessment, the Diversity Action Plan established 8 inital goals and the progress report assessed progress towards those goals:

C: Create an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and diverse Section -- Developing

Upon review of the Diversity Action Plan, the new VP of Global Diversity and Inclusion (GDI) established that the University needed to do more to address diversity and equity issues on campus. Currently a new team of students, faculty, staff, and community members are working on an updated Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Plan (DEIP) that will align with the University new Strategic Plan which uses an equity lens. Part of this process will also include an survey to all faculty, staff and students to assess the climate culture at the University.

The Diversity Action Plan and Progress Report are shared on the Office of Global Diversity and Inclusion's website. The website also includes an opportunity for community feedback and summarizes the process and notes from public forums.
