A brief description of the methodology used to calculate the campus water balance:
As part of campus planning efforts, an annual water balance analysis was performed for the main campus for the 2006 and 2016 conditions. The water balance was performed to estimate the annual stormwater volume reduction resulting from the University’s 2016 Campus Plan projects. The water balance analysis demonstrated that the stormwater improvements employed over the past decade have reduced the annual stormwater runoff volume by approximately 23 Million Gallons.

In 2016, the University's annual water balance was just under 600 Million Gallons. Half or 300 Million gallons was stormwater runoff generated by the main campus. The other half was either evaporated or infiltrated into the ground.
