A brief description of the program(s):
Richland offers professional development for faculty on integrating sustainability into teaching and learning. This professional development is modeled on the Ponderosa Project and adapted to Richland’s culture and needs. The program began with several faculty participating in Geoff Chase’s workshop given in Dallas County. These faculty have developed a parallel workshop for Richlanders. This group also leads sessions on integrating sustainability into curriculum in the Visions of Excellence series for all new faculty.
A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:
Incentives for developing sustainability offerings parallel those for developing distance learning courses and/or curricular redesigns targeting student success initiatives. Faculty receive up to one, full extra-service contract for such efforts, depending on the scope of the curricular design. The scope of work and appropriate compensation are determined through consultation between the faculty member and the division dean.
