NSEC - Carbon Capture
Richland constructed on campus the National Sequestration Education Center (NSEC), providing a local, regional, national, and international focal point for educational programming by providing an innovative experimental learning and knowledge transfer environment. The NSEC features "smart" classroom and laboratories interconnected to provide a state-of-the-art learning environment with "real time" sequestration data acquisition, monitoring, and analysis regarding injection and geological system performance from the Illinois Industrial Carbon Capture and Sequestration (IL ICCS) project.

Coffee Shop
Richland's student-run coffee shop opened June 2011 is a sustainable enterprise focusing on teaching students sustainable business practices.

Richland constructed on campus the National Sequestration Education Center (NSEC), providing a local, regional, national, and international focal point for educational programming by providing an innovative experimental learning and knowledge transfer environment. The NSEC features "smart" classroom and laboratories interconnected to provide a state-of-the-art learning environment with "real time" sequestration data acquisition, monitoring, and analysis regarding wind power generation, solar arrays, and biomass furnaces. Wind Power focuses on the 100 MW wind turbine generating electricity for the building.

Richland's Student Farm
Richland's Student Farm is an outdoor classroom for research, demonstration and organic crop production. The site includes two production greenhouses (2,400 square feet), as well as two hoop houses (960 square feet) which allow for crop production through harsh winters. Resources also include a shrub nursery, an All American Selections Display Garden plus additional flower and perennial gardens (16,000 square feet), 16 farm plots (38,400 square feet.) with fruit trees, brambles, energy grasses and vegetables, a shade structure and student-designed and constructed walks, waterfall, retaining walls, patio and outdoor kitchen. All produce is grown using organic, sustainable farming practices.

Fitness Center
Richland is currently constructing a new Fitness Center, replacing the current Center constructed in 2008. The Fitness Center is open year round with universal weight machines, free weights, stationary bikes, stair climbers, and treadmills to provide an excellent cross-training workout. The Center is used for the Richland Personal Trainer Certification program, providing hands-on practical labs with the equipment.

Farmers Market
Richland Community College’s Saturday Produce Market itakes place each Saturday from mid-May through mid-October from 8 am to Noon on the Richland campus and is open to the public. Offerings include plants, fresh fruits and vegetables grown by Richland students and local farmers, Amish baked goods, cheese, candy and fudge. Richland students are encouraged to particpate and have booths to sell produce to the shoppers. Adverstisements such as emails, flyers, and posters encourage faculty and employees to attend the farmer's market and support the students and the program.
