Yes

A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, special (e.g. coal ash), universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:

Due to the small size of our campus, we have minimal hazardous and chemical wastes. For the amounts that we do have on campus please refer to the below responses that outline how they are handled.


A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:

The college’s Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator works with various departments and faculty across campus to ensure proper disposal of any/all hazardous waste/chemicals used on campus. Battery collection containers are located throughout key offices for collection. Any compact fluorescent bulbs that have expired/broken are properly disposed of through the college’s Electric Department. Faculty and students in the chemistry department must participate in a hazardous waste training session with the Coordinator to ensure proper handling and disposal of chemicals used in the laboratories. Furthermore, the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator conducts regular hazardous waste pick-ups for proper disposal of items.

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator works with faculty in the chemistry department to update all chemicals used in the classrooms.

A brief description of the electronic waste recycling program(s), including information about how electronic waste generated by the institution and/or students is recycled:

The Office of Sustainability conducts outreach to departments/programs to ensure that employees are aware of mandatory electronic recycling on campus. Employees are able to submit a work order through the Facilities Work Order system for pick-up of any e-waste items for proper recycling. The college works with Good Point Recycling to ensure, safe and ethical recycling of the materials.
