Each year, the Center for Sustainability attends several sustainability conferences, such as AASHE, the Association for Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Facilities/Campus Safety/Sustainability Conference, and the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference (CHESC). At each, representatives of SCU have contact with other colleges and universities from the area, state, and nation, with which they collaborate and share ideas.

The SCU Center for Sustainability staff share our experiences and provide guidance to a number colleagues at other institutions of higher education. Though we have no formal mentoring relationship with any specific institution, we participate in a number of mentoring activities. For example: we have shared our model for developing a student-intern led Center for Sustainability and our process to develop a university-funded 1/2 acre campus garden.

A brief description of other collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year:

The Center for Sustainability's faculty associate for curriculum development, Dr. John Farnsworth was asked to facilitate all-day and two-day workshops in 2016 to help inaugurate sustainability-across-the-curriculum workshops at 12 universities, including Cal Poly in San Louis Obispo, California and Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

He was also one of two presenters in a 2016 AASHE webinar on trends in sustainability education.
