--SU does not have a formal Green Athletics program in place but uses several elements of such a program and industry best practices such as references in the table above to create awareness across campus.
--Zero Waste Concessions: Bon Appétit Management Company at Seattle University in Seattle is taking Food Service for a Sustainable Future to a new level by taking on the quintessential Concession Stand. After taking control of concessions for all home games at the University last year, Bon Appétit has refined the way the sport of snacking is played by taking part in the University’s initiative to increase recycling and composting rates in an effort to achieve a goal of 80% diversion of landfill waste by 2020. #ZeroWasteConcessions was launched at the first home basketball game of the 2017 season with a wide variety of typical concessions products made available to sports fans to enjoy—with the added tasty benefit that no materials would go to the landfill after consumption.
--Seattle U's Green Team and the Facilities Recycling crew attends 3-5 home games each quarter that have a specific focus on "environmental awareness": sport fans can stop by at the Green team's booth for information about SU's sustainability initiatives; learn how they play an important role in making Zero Waste Concessions a success; find out "What Goes Where"; and play a game of “compost/recycle/landfill” where each participant decides how a randomly selected piece of waste will be discarded.
--In Spring 2017 SU obtained received the Environmental Facility Certification from the Sport Turf Managers Association for sustainably maintaining the turf for Championship Field.
