We are required by the City of Seattle and King County to manage all stormwater runoff (retention and treatment) for all new construction or renovation exceeding 5000 square feet.
SU does not have comprehensively written institution-specific policies related to LID practices. However, we can point to specific guidelines/guiding documents, some mandated by law (MIMP:https://www.seattle.gov/Documents/Departments/Neighborhoods/MajorInstitutions/SeattleUniversity/SU%20MIMP%202013.pdf), others as City and industry guidelines (eg, City-endorsed guidelines like Sustainable Sites: https://www.seattle.gov/environment/climate-change/building-energy/city-facilities/sustainable-buildings-and-sites), and others described by University guidance like the Climate Action Plan (https://www.seattleu.edu/media/cejs/files/content/Seattle-University's-Climate-Action-Plan-2010-2035-v1.2.pdf).

There are two rain gardens, two green roofs and one rain water cistern on campus. There are also bioswales on campus and landscaping practices include a combination of native and other plants to create shade and to tolerate drought. We are required by the City of Seattle and King County to manage all stormwater runoff (retention and treatment) for all new construction or renovation exceeding 5000 square feet.
