Selkirk has an "Aboriginal Students at Selkirk College" facebook page. This page promotes events (eg. film screenings, lectures, dance classes), provides access to resources (eg. college survival tips), and promotes discussion.

The cafeterias at the college display signage with educational information about the certified Fair Trade products offered for sale. Additionally, a free Fair Trade magazine, published by the Canadian Fair Trade Network, is offered to the college community at various locations around campus.

Watering of the lawns and gardens on campus has been greatly reduced over the past few years, resulting in a drier, browner landscape during the summer months. During this time, signage is displayed on the lawns that informs the public of the college's decision to reduce its water consumption for irrigation in an effort to promote sustainable landscaping practices.

A handbook is provided for students when they move in to residence. The handbook contains information about using the recycling facilities on campus in residence. The Castlegar campus has a compost facility so information is provided to these students about composting kitchen scraps as well.
