A 5-minute video called "Dinner Basket Conversations-Selkirk College" was created to highlight and explain the Dinner Basket Conversations Initiative spearheaded by Selkirk College Counsellors and Nursing Program students.
On March 26th, 2015, Selkirk College participated in a webinar, "Using Food and Dialogue to Create Connections", to share what was learned about the Dinner Basket project with webinar participants.

Selkirk College is a member of AASHE (the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education)
Healthy Minds-Healthy Campuses Initiative (Collaboration of Canadian Mental Health Association of BC and University of Victoria's Centre for Addictions Research of BC)
Through the "Changing the Culture of Substance Abuse" project, Selkirk College has teamed up with 5 other post-secondary institutions around the province to explore the topic of creating healthy campus cultures.

Selkirk College hopes that by reporting on its Sustainability status and initiatives through STARS, the College will be able to help other institutions advance sustainability, just as Selkirk has gained many insights from other STARS reporters.
Selkirk has recently established a framework for collaboration and mutual support in applied research and innovation with College of the Rockies. Similar to Selkirk, The College of the Rockies has a strong sustainability committee, providing opportunity for valuable learning and sharing of sustainability resources and information.

The Dinner Basket Conversations initiative is helping lead the way in getting students to talk about responsible social behaviour. Meaningful dialogue is facilitated by Nursing Students on topics such as substance abuse, staying safe, healthy relationships, and creating positive change, with with the aim of creating a healthier post-secondary experience for students. Dialogue takes place over a meal prepared by participants (staff and students) which is paid for by the local funder, Columbia Basin Trust.

honoring and supporting the young people of our communities, enabling them to fulfill their essential role in creating sustainable societies.
