A brief description of the facilities for bicycle commuters:

None of the campuses provide secure, indoor bicycle storage for commuters, but all campuses have bike racks that are secure when individuals provide their own locks. Each campus has a building that contains showers (towel service available at Castlegar campus) and lockers that are available to bicycle commuters.

A brief description of the bicycle parking and storage facilities:

The Castlegar campus has 2 bike parking areas, with one more being installed in April 2016. One rack is outside of the main campus building (8 bicycle capacity), 2 bike racks located under a shelter are outside of the gym, and the new one (shelter plus bike racks) is to be installed near the cafeteria. There is 1 indoor bike storage area in the north storage of the Kekuli House Residence, and another in the 10th St. Campus residence building. There is one bike rack each outside of the Mary Hall and Patenaude buildings. The Silver King campus has 1 bike rack outside of the main building, and indoor bike parking in the shop buildings.

The West Kootenay Transit System of BC Transit provides service to Selkirk College campuses. Special rates are offered to student commuters such as the "Semester Pass", which is a 4-month bulk discount compared to purchasing 4 individual monthly passes. Additionally, the student rates for either a booklet of 10 bus tickets or a monthly pass are equivalent to senior rates, providing a 12.5-30% discount compared to adult fares.
BC transit held a community forum at Selkirk College in 2010. Riders were able to give feedback on the timing and frequency of routes/stops, safety of stops, convenience of stops etc. Following that forum, BC transit added a morning and evening route to the Nelson -Castlegar line and the Trail - Castlegar line.

There are 5 parking spots reserved for carpool-vehicles near the front entrance to the main building at the Castlegar campus. Students and employees can get a parking pass for a $5 refundable deposit which must be displayed in their vehicle when parked in one of the reserved spots. Vehicles must carry a minimum of 3 passengers to qualify for the program.

Selkirk College is a flexible and accommodating employer, and allows for employees to work from home when possible. The IT department is currently allowing certain faculty to access college drives and software from home as a trial project; if successful, this service will become available to the rest of the College community. Once implemented, this type of access has the potential to greatly reduce commuting trips to and from the College.

Since 2006, Recreation Services at the Castlegar campus has been hosting a "Bike to College Week" every May. Commuters are encouraged to ride a bike to college each day during that week, and there are a number of incentives offered. Participants are welcomed by Recreation Services representatives each morning, and they receive a bicycle maintenance manual, a $5 gift card to the school cafeteria or bookstore, and a chance to win a t-shirt every day that they ride. New riders who may have concerns about commuting safely can choose to be matched up with an experienced cyclist.
