A brief description of the green building rating system(s) used and/or a list of certified buildings and ratings:
Sheridan’s Hazel McCallion Mississauga campus (HMC; 159,038 ft2), which was constructed in the 2011/2012 fiscal year, has been awarded LEED Gold.
Sheridan College is building all new buildings to at least LEED Gold with an energy performance similar to German A-rated buildings (<100 ekWh/m2/year).
This information includes only buildings that were constructed within the last 5 years and does not include renovated space. Renovations are done in accordance with the energy efficiency guidelines provided in the IECMP, sustainability policy, and sustainability procedures.

A copy of the green building guidelines or policies :
The green building guidelines or policies:
Davis A-Wing and HMC2 were both constructed with the high energy efficiency standards laid out in IECMP and the sustainability policy.
Do the green building guidelines or policies cover the following?:
Yes or No | |
Impacts on the surrounding site (e.g. guidelines to reuse previously developed land, protect environmentally sensitive areas, and otherwise minimize site impacts) | Yes |
Energy consumption (e.g. policies requiring a minimum level of energy efficiency for buildings and their systems) | Yes |
Building-level energy metering | Yes |
Use of environmentally preferable materials (e.g. guidelines to minimize the life cycle impacts associated with building materials) | Yes |
Indoor environmental quality (i.e. guidelines to protect the health and comfort of building occupants) | Yes |
Water consumption (e.g. requiring minimum standards of efficiency for indoor and outdoor water use) | Yes |
Building-level water metering | Yes |
A brief description of the green building guidelines or policies and/or a list or sample of buildings covered:
This includes all buildings constructed in the last 5 years, except C-Wing infill.
Sheridan College passed a revised Sustainability Policy and new Policy Procedures on September 9, 2014. The Procedures states:
Energy performance of new or substantially-renovated buildings will exceed LEED Gold, aligning instead with German A-Rated levels. Any RFP should specify energy end-use to meet a 12-month average, specific end-use energy performance index (in typical operation for a typical year) between 70 ekWh/m2 - 100 ekWh/m2.
