A brief description of the institution's water-related behavior change initiatives, e.g. initiatives to shift individual attitudes and practices such as signage and competitions:

The Office for Sustainability encourages the Sheridan community to report water leaks or broken fixtures and water fountains. Sheridan has also installed filtered water refill stations at each of its campuses and encourages people to bring reusable water bottles.


A brief description of the institution's water recovery and reuse initiatives:

The new A-Wing building at Davis Campus in Brampton has a water cistern that collects rainwater from the roof, which is then used in toilets and urinals. The cistern can store 90 cubic meters of water. The annual water demand of the building is 5,700 cubic meters and the projected rainwater fall is 3,300 cubic meters.

The new HMC2 building in Mississauga also has a rainwater cistern that can hold up to 35 cubic meters.


A brief description of the institution's initiatives to replace plumbing fixtures, fittings, appliances, equipment, and systems with water-efficient alternatives (e.g. building retrofits):

In order to reduce water usage, Sheridan Facilities have installed high efficiency fixtures such as electronic sensor faucets and standard low flow toilets and urinals. Sheridan has also switched to closed loop cooling towers and plans to reduce water use for cooling.
