The construction and demolition numbers provided are from the Robert A. Smith Student Center, which was designed and built to LEED standards and awaiting certification; this is the most recent data for a one year period, and the General Contractor documented 94% of the construction waste was diverted from landfills.

In general, all scrap metal not diverted and recycled by construction contractors is regularly collected by SRU's Grounds Crews and the Environmental Health and Safety Department for recycling/salvage.
