A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to staff:

Sustainability and Dining- the sustainability coordinator led a training for interested Dining Services staff that included the value of composting and alternative protein.

Admissions- sustainability staff presents to the admissions staff each summer in order to update them on how the college is doing with its sustainability commitments and how students at Smith engage with sustainability, so that admissions staff can better answer questions from prospective students.

Development- sustainability staff led development officers on a walking tour of campus to train them on how to discuss green building and sustainability initiatives on campus with potential donors.

Zero waste- the sustainability coordinator led several trainings on how to host zero waste events for staff members across campus that plan and lead major events for their departments.

Sustainability in the Library- library staff members invited the sustainability coordinator to lead a training on how the library could reduce their waste and lead zero waste events and receptions. The coordinator led a training at an all-staff meeting.

Sustainability Lunch and Learn- as part of HR's Lunch and Learn series, the sustainability coordinator led a workshop on how to reduce waste and energy consumption at work and in the home. These workshops are available to all staff.

The college supports the participation of the sustainability director, sustainability coordinator, and 2-3 students each year in traveling to the AASHE conference and participating in pre and post conference workshops and trainings.
