AASHE STARS as Metric for University Planning

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

The SIUE 2013/2014 Strategic Plan has utilized AASHE STARS rating as a metric for determining the progress of the University in working toward the plans laid forth. Under Longterm Goal #6, Physical and Financial Sustainability—Develop, maintain and protect the University’s assets by practicing and promoting economic, environmental, and social sustainability campus-wide. The performance indicator is the AASHE STARS assessment. The baseline is the STARS bronze rating 2013. The goal it to reach STARS 2.0 silver rating by FY 2018.

SIUE has attained the STARS silver 2.0 rating as of April 2016, almost two years ahead of schedule.
