A brief description of the policies and procedures that ensure community stakeholder engagement is applied systematically and regularly across the institution’s activities:

Southwestern University has a College Town Committee which meets every other month to discuss events and opportunities that involve both the city and the college. Southwestern staff are filled in on what is happening in the Georgetown community and community members are filled in on what the college is doing.


A brief description of how the institution identifies and engages community stakeholders, including any vulnerable or underrepresented groups:

The institution used the committee to identify the most common places the college and the community interact and then work on facilitating this interaction.

The College Town Committee includes nearly 20 representatives from local businesses, city offices and nonprofit organizations as well as staff members from throughout Southwestern. Some members include people from the Georgetown city chamber of commerce, members of local companies and shopping areas, local media, and some NPOs.


A brief description of successful community stakeholder engagement outcomes from the previous three years:

The addition of signage indicating Georgetown is the home of Southwestern University, the addition of Southwestern logo on the Georgetown water tower, participation of students in local festivals and celebrations, and more.
