Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

From 2008-2010, Southwestern has communicated with local City of Georgetown officials to work toward becoming a 100% renewable energy campus, which it accomplished in 2010. This initial work allowed the City of Georgetown to use the Southwester campus as a case study to experiment with purchasing renewable energy in the Texas electrical grid market. In 2017 Georgetown became the only city in Texas to be powered by 100% renewable energy, and credited Southwestern with helping it learn more about the process. Since 2017, faculty and students have communicated with City of Georgetown officials to discuss sustainability issues and raise environmental awareness in the community. We are currently in talks with local environmental consultants and businesses about water conservation measures and sustainable design that would benefit the campus.
