A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

Campus was used as a test lab for the Pathway Research LLC. in developing NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicles). Seventeen vehicles were tested by various departments for one year and the results were assessed by Pathway Research LLC.

Due to the Clean Air Act, Daimler Chrysler Co. provided free GEM electric cars to various State of New York agencies. SUNY Cortland, based on the previous research, responded promptly and received 28 GEM cars ( 2 seater, 4 seater and flatbed type). Today these vehicles are used as main service vehicles for various departments for daily duties or during hosting events such as the New York Jets Summer Training Camp.
