As a department we have made a commitment to the Green Chemistry Principles and we report annually to Beyond Benign.

Our Gen Chem II lab course (CHEM 126) focuses on teaching Green Chemistry and all of the experiments have been converted to Green labs.
Energy Conservation: Our building is LEED Gold certified.
Water conservation is taught but not built in to facilities.
Chemical use and disposal: always strictly follow guidelines and laws. Additionally, in the two semesters of Gen Chem labs (where we serve the most students) our chemicals are almost all benign. Additionally we re-use materials and byproducts in those courses.
Training: all first year science majors take Gen Chem II (referenced above).
