A brief description of the institution's stormwater management initiatives:

The College has a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan which includes strategies to reduce stormwater runoff from new development projects as well as ongoing campus operations. The SWPPP consists of a plan for control of erosion and sediment and control of water quality and quantity. Temporary measures are used during construction to limit the contact of surface water with disturbed earth and to remove sediment from runoff from construction sites. Temporary measures will include:
• Temporary swales to divert clean runoff from construction areas or to collect runoff from construction areas. All swales shall have uninterrupted positive grade to discharge. Swales collecting runoff from a disturbed area shall have check dams. All swales shall be stabilized with mulch or jute mesh.
• Check dams to be used in swale and ditches close to and downgradient of construction activities.
• Silt fence or hay / straw bale sediment barrier between construction areas and swales.
• Stabilized construction entrance.
• Stabilized outfall for any new discharge.
• Topsoiling, seeding and mulching all areas as soon as construction is complete.

Permanent measures are used after construction to mitigate the impact of new impervious surface by infiltrating runoff. Measures to be used include infiltration in basins and / or trenches. Stabilized outfalls may remain as permanent measures for overflows from infiltration structures. Where possible, permanent measures shall have overflows with uninterrupted positive grade to an outlet.
