Do It In the Dark

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

Do It in the Dark is a competition between residence halls to reduce electricity use over a one-week period. In addition, the campus-wide energy competition aimed to promote awareness about reducing energy consumption in daily campus life.

Measurable energy reductions were achieved in overall campus energy consumption.

RecycleMania

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged (2nd campaign):

RecycleMania is a eight week waste reduction and recycling competition that SUNY Oneonta takes part in annually. In order to engage students in the campus to campus competition, we share week by week recycling weights of each residence hall to enable competition between halls, and host campus wide activities throughout the competition period.

A campus wide campaign to educate and engage about waste reduction and recycling teaches and encourages best practices. There is typically a increase in the recycling rate in the dorms by the end of the eight week period.
