“Sustainability is the process that promotes the use of natural systems and resources to increase the probability that they will continue to be available and viable.
Sustainability Focused Courses- These are courses in which the theme of the course is sustainability. Courses that specifically have sustainability in the title as well as courses whose primary focus is an area of sustainability (ex. Energy conservation) meets this criteria.
Sustainability Related Courses- Courses in which a theme of sustainability is addressed, either explicitly or indirectly; but where sustainability is not the primary focus of the course.”

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:
All deans and department chairs were presented with the definition of sustainability and the definitions for the different types of courses. The catalog was also scanned and then those courses were sent back to departments for confirmation. Changes were made as a function of the feedback.
