Environmental Science class

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

The Environmental Science class each year takes baseline measurements of different dorms and public buildings on campus. Students in the class then prepared a variety of campaigns, including: signage, meetings, e-mail reminders, talks in Community Meeting, etc., to talk to students and employees about reducing their energy use by activities such as: turning off lights in unused rooms, putting computers to sleep, and reducing hot water usage.


A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

The Environmental Science class, in Spring 2016, saw statistically significant drops in electricity usage in dorms and public buildings. Hot water and heating usage was not statistically significant in its reduction.
