The document has been recognized by the provost as a second constellation of excellence noted for SU…Members of the Stetson Green Committee met and discussed the research of colleagues in the university to compile the list. Stetson University has adopted a water sustainability theme for the 2011-2012 school year. Various classes are being offered that promote water sustainability such as Conservation Biology with Dr. Kirsten Work, Aquatic and Marine Biology with Dr. Melissa Gibbs, Sustainability Studies with Dr. Tony Abbott and Water Fights in Florida with Stephen Kintner. Furthermore, various speakers have visited Stetson to speak to students and faculty on the topic of water sustainability such as Tom Bartol, director of the division of water supply management for the St. Johns River Water Management District; Keith Rigers, city engineer / public services director for the city of DeLand; and Charles Lee, director of advocacy, Audubon of Florida. Binka Le Breton also visited Stetson to speak about rain forest sustainability in Brazil. Outreach programs are also being implemented that are both informative and research based.
