A brief description of on-site renewable electricity generating devices :

Stetson University does not currently generate electricity from clean and renewable energy sources on campus, however, this is an avenue the university is exploring. With the help of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) Stetson University is exploring available options for installing solar photovoltaic panels on flat roofs across campus to generate electricity.


A brief description of on-site renewable non-electric energy devices:

Stetson University currently uses renewable sources of non-electric, on-site energy generation in the form of concentrated solar thermal. Solar thermal was installed on the roof of the Rinker Field House to provide year-round heating for the Hollis Center Pool. Solar thermal was also installed on eight buildings to reduce the consumption and expense of natural gas used to heat domestic hot water. These building include Nemec Residence Hall, Smith Residence Hall, Gordis Residence Hall, Hollis Residence Hall, Carson Residence Hall, Carlton Union Building, Emily Residence Hall, and Chaudoin Residence Hall. This expenditure was possible through an agreement with an ESCO.


A brief description of off-site, institution-catalyzed, renewable electricity generating devices:

Stetson University does not currently facilitate the development of off-site clean and renewable energy. At this time, this option is not being explored.


A brief description of RECs or other similar renewable energy products purchased during the previous year:

Stetson University does not currently purchase Renewable Energy Certificates. This practice is not likely to be implemented at Stetson.


A brief description of cogeneration technologies deployed:

Stetson University does not currently use cogeneration technologies to generate electricity more efficiently. This is an area Stetson University will be looking into.
