Supporting a diverse environment is the responsibility of everyone at the College, and our entire community collaborates to provide opportunities for students to engage in education, activism and empowerment. We’ve developed sharing programs, teaching practices and student leadership experiences that create and improve a culture of belonging.
Consistent with our Catholic identity, Stonehill supports a diversity of persons, of opinions and of cultural and religious perspectives. The College affirms that appreciation of this diversity is integral to the acquisition of personal and intellectual breadth.

Programs/ Activities offered:
LGBTQ Self-Identified Group

This is a peer-led group for any students who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning. Unlike a gay/straight alliance (GSA), this group is intended for students who self-identify as LGBTQ to get together, discuss their experiences here at Stonehill, and find a network of support and solidarity. Meetings are on Wednesdays at 7:00pm (Sept 17, Oct 1, Oct 15, Oct 29, Nov 12, Dec 3, Dec 17) in Duffy 149. New members are always welcome throughout the semester!

Exploring Whiteness: A Social Justice Dialogue Group

Do you self-identify as White, Caucasian, or coming from European heritage and want to participate in social justice and support of diversity? Exploring Whiteness: A Social Justice Dialogue Group is a group of students from European heritage backgrounds who come together to discuss issues of diversity and their desire to engage in inclusion work. Many of the students involved hold leadership positions in diversity related clubs and organizations and are committed to participating in the solution. Meetings are on Mondays at 6:30pm in Duffy 120. New members are always welcome throughout the semester! (Sept 8, Sept 22, Oct 6, Oct 20, Nov 3, Nov 17, Dec 1)

Radiant, Inspirational, Sisters Empowered (RISE)

RISE is a peer-led discussion group for women who self-identify as coming from African, Latino, Asian, Native American, multiracial backgrounds. Students discuss issues of gender, experiences at Stonehill, relationships, sisterhood, solidarity, and activism in their bi-weekly meetings. Meetings are held Wednesdays at 6:30pm in Duffy 120. New members always welcome throughout the semester! (Sept 10, Oct 1, Oct 22, Nov 12, Dec 3).

Men of Service, Academia, Integrity and Character (MOSAIC)

MOSAIC is a peer-led discussion group for men who self-identify as coming from African, Latino, Asian, Native American, multiracial backgrounds. Students discussion issues of gender, experiences at Stonehill, relationships, brotherhood, solidarity and activism in their bi-weekly meetings. Meeting dates and times are Mondays at 8:00pm in Duffy 120 (Sept 15, Sept 29, Oct 13, Oct 27, Nov 24, Dec 8). New members always welcome throughout the semester!

GenOne: Navigation for the First Generation College Student

GenOne is a peer-led support group for students who are the first in their families to enroll and attend college (however you want to define it). Students often discuss issues of college-going experiences, how to find support at Stonehill, and how to succeed in college when your parents/guardians have not attended college. Meetings are on Mondays at 7:30pm in Duffy 120. New members always welcome throughout the semester. (Sept 8, Sept 22, Oct 6, Oct 20, Nov 3, Nov 17, Dec 1).

Leadership Through Diversity ("LTD")

LTD is an opportunity for first-year students to learn more about how identity informs your style of leadership. Students will learn about different leadership theories from an identity-conscious lens. This group will prepare you for leadership roles at Stonehill College and beyond! This is a continuous series, and participants must attend all of the sessions. The meetings occur approximately once a month for the duration of the academic year. New members are only permitted within the first two meetings. For more information, please email diversity@stonehill.edu

In addition to these identity-conscious discussion groups, there are many opportunities to engage in diversity related clubs and organizations that bring together many different racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual orientation identities.
