RecycleMania is a friendly competition and bench-marking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities on campus.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. Over an 8-week period each spring, colleges across the United States and Canada report the amount of recycling and trash collected each week and are in turn ranked in various categories based on who recycles the most on a per capita basis, as well as which schools have the best recycling rate as a percentage of total waste and which schools generate the least amount of combined trash and recycling. With each week’s updated ranking, participating schools follow their performance against other colleges and use the results to rally their campus to reduce and recycle more.

Zimride Rideshare Program for staff, faculty and students

The University has structured a campaign around promoting the ride-share program, Zimride. The program promotes carpooling as an alternative transportation mode to faculty and staff and ride-sharing for students for onetime rides, such as grocery shopping or going home.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):

The online program tracks the total rides and the total green house gas reductions when the community uses this program.
Every month, there is a meeting with the Zimride staff to go over or dashboard report
to see how well our community is doing, how often and how many rides were completed each month using this program and how much green house gasses were negated using through the ride-shares.
(This program was discontinued in Feb. 2018)
