A brief description of the facilities for bicycle commuters:

Bike storage and showers and lockers are available in seven different recreational facilities and Hendrix chapel. One recreational facility is in a residence hall, so all three services are available in a single building.


Does the institution provide short-term bicycle parking for all occupied buildings and makes long-term bicycle storage available for students who live on-site (if applicable)?:
Yes

A brief description of the bicycle parking and storage facilities:

The University has bike racks throughout the campus for all academic and residence halls. All residence halls have an indoor bike-room for winter storage for students who live on campus.

Yes

A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:

The Syracuse University bike-share program was piloted from 2012-2014 and officially implemented in Fall 2016. Bikes are allowed to be checked out for the day and have to be back at the location before 11 am the next day. Bikes can be checked out for full weekend use. Yes

A brief description of the mass transit programs:

SU offers extensive free campus shuttle service, as well as free service to South Campus, the Syracuse Stage Complex, the Center of Excellence and the Warehouse located off campus in the City of Syracuse.
Free city bus service is available to university personnel and students in the immediate campus area, to downtown Syracuse and to the regional shopping mall. Additionally, faculty and staff who choose to purchase monthly bus passes through the University may do so using before-tax dollars.
The University offers Park and Ride programs for carpool options and as convenient locations, in rural areas around Syracuse University, to leave their cars and bus to work.

Members of the campus community (faculty, staff and students) can register online to express interest in ride sharing. Alternatively, they can form a carpool through Zimride our ride-share program or via Parking and Transit services.
The University offers Park and Ride programs for carpool options and as convenient locations, in rural areas around Syracuse University, to leave their cars and carpool to work.

ZipCars are located among six different campus locations. The program has been in place for five years, grows every year, and experiences high levels of use during the academic year. The University also has a ride-share program through Zimride.

Telecommuting allows eligible employees to work from a remote location, either full or part-time.

Compressed Work Schedule allows eligible staff members to work longer hours each day in order to have time off during another normal work day, to fulfill a traditional hour work week in less than a traditional number of work days. The most common compressed workweek is a four-day, 10-hour schedule (4 days/40 hours or 4 days/37.5 hours).

SU has a Guaranteed Mortgage Program for all employees willing to purchase housing within designated areas, all of which are within walking distance of campus or of free bus service to campus. Purchasers must agree to use these properties as their primary residences.
