Transportation Services has adopted the following guideline to address idling vehicles/motorized equipment on campus:
• When a vehicle or any motorized piece of equipment is not in use, if possible, it should be powered off to prevent the creation of unnecessary pollution due to idling.

The institution used the EPA calculator located at http://www.epa.illinois.gov/topics/air-quality/planning-reporting/annual-emission-reports/calculate/boiler-ng/index and used all natural gas consumption on the campus as the input.
