The Texas A&M University WELLNESS WORKS! program has grown significantly. The University received over $100k in funding from the System Office, employed an Employee Wellness Coordinator to focus on this program along with many others to engage our workforce, and implemented numerous physical, financial and interpersonal programs. WELLNESS WORKS! is designed to encourage employees to live healthier lifestyles, to support a healthy workplace and to create a culture of wellness throughout the campus community. There are three pillars to the program: Physical, Financial, and Interpersonal Health. WELLNESS WORKS! is designed to focus on the “whole” individual to increase awareness and provide resources and activities to empower faculty and staff to be healthy in all aspects of their life.
Some examples of the Wellness Works! program's expansion include:
1. Implementation of Wellness Release Time which is 30 minutes, 3 times per week during work hours.
2. Over 40 free fitness activities/classes each week.
3. Onsite wellness checkups through Catapult Health.
4. Expanded flu vaccine clinic.
5. Staff Tuition Assistance Program
6. WELL Leader program
7. Living WELL Aware at Texas A&M program
8. Summer Kickball League
9. Employee Health and Wellness Fair
WELLNESS WORKS! presents Living WELL Aware at Texas A&M, a dynamic, year-long program focused on promoting holistic well-being and designed specifically for faculty and staff of Texas A&M University*. Founded and presented by Dr. Patricia J. Sulak, this program delivers revolutionary health information, implementation, and inspiration to move participants on a path of improved quality of life and longevity. The program takes the concept of wellness to a higher level, adding components addressing emotional, social, and spiritual health.
Texas A&M System Benefits Administration has entered into an agreement with Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Services to extend services to all A&M System members including Texas A&M University. Deer Oaks EAP services are available at no cost to benefit-eligible faculty and staff employees as well as their dependents/household members. Services cover up to five, confidential short-term mental health counseling sessions per person per issue per year (the presenting issue can be re-assessed after one year from the initial date of service).
Texas A&M offers numerous Wellness services to our student population. Examples include:
