Eurostat indicates that the poverty threshold for a family of four is €9,475 or €789 a month for 2015. At American College of Greece, 800 euros per month is the minimum entry level salary for administrative employees, whereas for faculty, the entry level salary is much higher. Various additional benefits are added, including degree benefits, children benefits, insurance, years of experience, and disability.

The lowest monthly salary is defined by the Greek labour law. According to this law, salaries should not be lower than Euro 654 plus social security coverage.
