A brief description of the event(s):

The New School has hosted several events related to sustainability, including, but not limited to:

Campus Sustainability Week:

From October 25-29, 2011, the Office for Sustainability hosted the first annual Campus Sustainability Week. Last year, anchor events included: A careers-in-sustainability alumni panel discussion, Green Fund award presentations, a sustainability town hall meeting and a clothing swap and workshops organized by student groups.

Earth Day:

Each year New School students participate in Earth Day activities. In 2011, students groups organized a sustainability town hall meeting on campus and a local food cooking demonstration and picnic at the Union Square Greenmarket.

Water Week:

This interdisciplinary event took place from March 28 to April 1, 2011, and connected the intellectual and creative resources of The New School to explore local, regional, and global water issues. Lectures and presentations by faculty and student scholars and activists stimulated discussion about complex environmental challenges facing our community and our planet relating to conserving dwindling fresh water resources for human populations and agricultural demands.
