The New School does not participate in TRIO programs; however, the university's Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and the Eugene Lang College The New School's Institute for Urban Education serve a similar purpose.

Programs at The New School that assist with the cost of attendance for low-income students include HEOP, Institute for Urban Education at Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, SPACE (Parsons Summer, Pre-College Academy, and Continuing Education) and University Scholars Program via Financial Aid.

A program at The New School that helps prepare students from low-income backgrounds for higher education scholarships is SPACE’s JP Morgan Chase Scholars, a program for pre-college students. Further, the Institute for Urban Education (IUE) at The New School provides university-wide programming and research to promote effective, visionary partnerships between the university and K-12 education in the New York City area
