A brief description of the themed semester, year, or first-year experience:
Three years ago, the freshman common book in First Year Experience was No Impact Man, which was explored a year in the life of a family trying to live impact free. Students were encouraged to openly discuss and write about the merits of sustainability.
Also (from PAE 22. Community Service), from Shane McCrory:
A large number of these students are required to complete a certain amount community service in their First Year Experience course.
