Temple Patton (Ohio State Lima) developed the DREAM Program to minimize the cost of attendance for low-income students. The Program walks seniors through the admissions process, through a number of events that must be attended to receive a renewable scholarship as long as the student maintains a 2.5 GPA on the Lima Campus.


A brief description of the institution’s programs to equip the institution's faculty and staff to better serve students from low-income backgrounds:

The Office of Institutional Diversity has created a Bridge Program (CLIFFS) to prepare students from low-income (at-risk) backgrounds for higher education. Thus, the goal of the CLIFFS (College Level Intervention For Freshman Success) Bridge Program is to create a seamless process and transition from high school to Ohio State Lima for incoming freshmen (including underrepresented and first generation students) who have successfully matriculated to Ohio State Lima. Thus, the actual program would start three weeks prior to the start of the Autumn Semester of 2014. Students admitted to the CLIFFS Bridge Program would participate in academic courses (writing, math and possibly psychology) as well as enrichment courses (study skills and career development seminars) which provide a foundation to understand the multitude of demands and expectations at the university. Moreover, students would also participate in personal/social development activities and workshops (student life) all of which are designed to help them make the transition to Ohio State Lima more successfully.
