PAE-T2-12: Farmers' Market

The Lima Aggies, a student group, host a marketplace and hold hayrides during Homecoming Week each year at Ohio State Lima. The first year the offerings were limited to hot drinks and snacks. In 2013, offerings were expanded and included freshly-picked vegetables from the Lima Campus Community garden, breads made from the zucchini in the garden, baked pumpkin and sunflowers from the garden, and hot drinks. Club members also brought in other baked goods to supplement those made from garden produce. The Lima Aggies are the primary sponsor of the garden, which started in May 2013 in seven plots on the main inner walking path of campus. Proceeds from the market will support efforts to expand what the garden produces next year. Future plans include a meal for the campus made from items grown on campus. In 2013, the Farmer’s Marketplace was open to all faculty, staff and students at Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State College. Information was also provided to local media outlets.
The Lima Aggies is open to Ag and non-Ag majors interested in Agricultural activities. The club provides the opportunity for students on campus to get engaged with agriculture as well as educate the area about agriculture.

The Lima Aggies Farmer’s Marketplace is held annually during homecoming week in October.
