A brief description of the institution’s formal community partnership to advance sustainability, including website URL (if available) and information to support each affirmative response above:

Recognizing a need for more organization around the community gardens/raised beds installed at each of six Marion City Schools elementary schools, the Ohio State Marion Rotaract Club (division of Rotary International) has volunteered to partner with the city schools and OSU Extension service in Marion County to develop an organized scope of work to maintain the 40 raised beds at the elementary schools and involve students and faculty at each of the schools. This program is designed to add more structure to the program and help students gain knowledge in gardening and food production. Prior to this, these beds were weed-infested and neglected. We believe this outreach will help accomplish the original goals of the program by providing more structure and the knowledge available through the Ohio State Extension Service. It is also anticipated that 4-H members, organized through Ohio State Extension Service, may also join the effort.
