A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):

Indoor Air Quality at TRU is maintained to all provincial standards. In addition, buildings that were constructed recently are built and maintained to ASHRAE 62-2001 standards. Air quality is monitored by CO and CO2 sensors that are connected to the HVAC system that circulates additional air depending levels of CO and CO2 , and, by extension, the number of people occupying a room. This ensures that levels remain safe and energy consumption remains low. TRU’s campus features remote alarm systems for air supply and exhaust systems. Problems and complaints for air quality can be directed to TRU Facilities personnel. TRU also attempts to maintain a scent-reduced environment to protect those with sensitivities. Furthermore, smoking is not permitted within 25 feet of all building entrances, windows or air intakes. Recently, a program was introduced to assist those wanting to quit smoking; this type of program helps to reinforce this clean air environment around campus: http://www.tru.ca/visit/campus/clean-air.html.
