Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Unity College Bus to DC People's Climate March

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

Unity College sponsored a bus for the People's Climate March in NYC in 2014 and decided to continue the tradition when the DC march was announced. The Sustainability Office and Student Activities funded a bus (that was free for students)that took 40 students down to Washington, DC 12 hours over night. Before leaving for the trip, the group met to discuss logistics of the march and also why we were going both institutionally and personally Students were able to participate in a historic march and see the amount of people that came out for Climate Justice on the hottest day in April in DC's history. Students were energized to see that size of a crowd all advocating for the same things that they advocate for personally. The Unity group then climbed back on the bus for another 12 hour bus ride back to Maine. After the trip most of the group reconvened to discuss the march and what we learned or realized after being a part of such a large event.
